Take a bear from the Wish Tree & purchase a toy for that child. |
For over a half century, the Chapel Hill Service League has sponsored Christmas House to benefit Orange County children who most need support during the holidays. Early each December parents and guardians from hundreds of families visit our one-day “store” where they hand pick new gifts for their children free of charge. Last year alone, 841 children received a warm coat, a book and at least one toy, helping them celebrate a holiday season their families ordinarily would not have been able to afford.
The demand for families needing Christmas House assistance has increased significantly over the years, as has the expense of sponsoring the event. But the rewards are just as valuable, as one of our area’s family specialists notes:
| “The Monday after Christmas House last year I telephoned a grandmother who is raising her grandchildren about a school-related issue, but as soon as she heard my voice she thanked me profusely for referring her family to Christmas House. She was so excited to report that the only gift her grandson wanted was a scooter, and not only was she able to select one at Christmas House but they also provided her with the helmet and protective padding to go with it! She said her grandson was ‘set’ for Christmas. If his excitement for the gift was only a fraction of hers in being able to give it, I'm sure he was.” |
Join us in supporting the deserving children in our community. If you desire to become a corporate sponsor, your organization will be acknowledged in future Christmas House literature and sponsor signage will be made available for you to display at your organization. Additional information is available by calling 919-933-1141. Please note Christmas House, Inc. is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization.

There are other ways for you to help:
|
Battery Donations
- We are always in need of batteries (especially AA, C and 9 volt) for the toys provided at Christmas House. |
|
Wish Tree
- Each November, trees are set up in both the University Mall and Carr Mill Mall. Each tree is decorated with bears, each with the gender and age of a child. You are invited to take a bear and purchase an age appropriate toy for that child. Toys can then be returned to the box next to the tree until Christmas Eve. The toys collected support Christmas House. |

"I have only great things to say about the Service League and hope that they will be around for many years to come. My comments are reflecting all of the many comments that I have received over the years from so many families."
